The mission of Tennis Success is to enrich the lives of at-risk youth and to equip them to serve the community by providing tennis, education and healthy living programs.
The concept of Tennis Success began in January of 2000. The idea was to promote and build a tennis program where players would come from the inner city, the west-side neighborhoods and “el barrio”. It would be free of charge and any kid that wanted to learn to play tennis could come.
Tennis Success would need something to show people to promote the idea and gain support. Father Filice, and Joseph Kalenic, helped write a flyer introducing the concept. From January to May of 2000 the founders proceeded to solicit help. With no bank account the program would need the generous help of people in the community. The founders mailed out handwritten requests to family, friends, and acquaintances in the community soliciting support.
It was from this humble beginning that Tennis Success has grown into the viable program it is today and serves hundreds of kids each year through education and tennis.
